Innovation at Dunn
When a school says they have a student run market, or a student run portfolio do they really mean it?
Dunn School does. Here at Dunn, we have had a program created by students for students for a long time, and it isn’t just the teachers handing us, the students, money and telling us what to invest in, or making us cashiers in a market.
Innovation is the name of the game for Dunn School. Here we have made a program that focuses on student created products, independent investment strategies and innovation.
In our market class we sell products that are student created and selected, meaning that everything that you see on our website and in person was student created. Even the site, the price, all the way up to the choice of the supplier was researched and chosen by students.
In our investing classes Dunn School leads a path of innovation. The students receive money made by the market, run by students, and invest in stocks of their choosing after doing research allowing them to get hands-on experience and leave a long-lasting mark on this school by adding to a portfolio with a value of almost half a million in the year 2024.
The investing program allows students to use real money and teaches them the importance of research. If a student makes a wrong choice substantial amounts of money are at stake, which gives them the best grasp on the feeling of investing.
Our innovation center is a place where our students develop products and innovate new ideas. The space is always open to students and has a variety of tools, including 3D printers and laser engravers, that are accessible to students. The student created products are then incorporated into the other classes like the market, and even for use around Dunn School.
