My Experience in Dunn School's Entrepreneurship Program

My name is Patrick Chen and I am currently a freshman at Dunn. I am part of the class of 2027 and I’m passionate about the Dunn community and its beautiful campus. As a newcomer in the Dunn School Entrepreneurship class, I have learned things that my friends across the world couldn’t imagine doing. From cooking in the kitchen, to delivering food, and to creating my own products, there was always something new to learn. The student run business consists of one big group and one small group. The big toolkit class worked on new products or digital marketing, and the small market class, you learned how to cook food and effectively communicate with peers. With this program being cost-free, I encourage you as a Dunn student to take advantage of this program and learn from it.

My favorite projects that I had to struggle with was learning how to project financial spreadsheets and finding which stocks were good to invest in. Although estimating a predicted revenue stream didn’t seem hard at first, I quickly realized the amount of work you had to process in order to get that number. For example, it is hard to predict the inconsistencies within a revenue stream and how long they’ll last. Similarly, finding stocks was also inconsistent. You had to read what was a GF score, dividend yield, and the pe ratio. These projects seemed way too hard at first, but after watching movies like “The Founder,” it taught me that struggle was part of the process of learning.

In conclusion, I loved every part of the Jurgensen’s program and hope that new students around the world can have a chance to experience the time I had. I also hope that they’ll enjoy the products we spent our time working on and showcase them by proudly wearing the Dunn logo.
